There are many walks that you can take when you are in Hatobuilico. These range from the famous walk up Mt Ramelau to walks to the east towards Nunomogue and to the west towards Letefoho. These walks take you through magnificent and varied terrain – forests, past sacred houses, through rarely visited villages, rocky battlements (remnants from the Portuguese and Indonesian periods where people hid out as resistance fighters or as Australian soldiers during WWII).

It is recommended that you take a guide.

A pair of self-funded volunteers from Australia spent four months living in Hatobuilico in 2010 identifying walks that could be easily enjoyed.  These walks are various, all very different and take different lengths of time. Download the pdf or read about the walks below.
